A little more about us:
The Halterworth Teaching School Partnership is located in Romsey, Hampshire.
Halterworth is an outstanding school with a long standing and well recognised reputation for high standards, innovation and leadership in education. Our core philosophy is that every child should attend a truly great school and be taught by passionate and creative teachers. We work hard to achieve this through strong collaboration with other schools and providing high quality professional learning opportunities for all staff. Designated a National Teaching School in 2017 we are pleased to be able to build on the work we have undertaken for many years as a National Support School. Now working across the Solent region as part of the wider alliance of Teaching Schools, our goal is to help school leaders to assimilate and embed the school improvement guidance they can receive from a wide range of providers. We know that when a school is seeking to raise standards rapidly the pressures can be immense and having colleagues to help with developing clarity and understanding is invaluable.
We personalise the programme or support provided to schools and teachers and ensure that rigorous feedback is undertaken to evaluate the impact we make. Led by Jo Cottrell, a National Leader of Education, this school and wider Partnership has a strong reputation from which many successful school leaders have gone on to lead their own schools.
As a lead provider for School Direct Initial Teacher Training (ITT) for many years, we work in partnership with Winchester University to nurture and develop new teachers to the profession. Our programme is sought after and offers both salaried and training routes into teaching; we are the largest provider of School Direct ITT for the University. The Halterworth Teaching School Partnership provides support and guidance for professionals at every stage of their career, from newly qualified (NQT) to experienced leaders, seeking inspiration and challenge.
Our Partnership consists of 20+ mainland schools, which continues to grow and a further 10 schools on the Isle of Wight. These are schools with which we have developed a strong and growing partnership through ITT and school to school support programmes. Our Partnership is drawn from providers of education from 4 to 19 years and from across these partner schools we have a Strategic Board who oversee the direction and effectiveness of our Teaching School. The very best teachers and leaders from across these schools provide the support and lead professional development opportunities either as Specialist Leaders of Education (SLEs) or Leading Teachers.
