NQT Programme

At Halterworth Teaching School Partnership our bespoke NQT programme runs alongside your school-based teaching role ensuring that you receive the best possible development opportunities throughout your NQT year.

According to research, the first few years of a new teacher’s development are the most crucial. Our bespoke, highly supportive package ensures that newly qualified teachers are provided with the best quality support and opportunities for professional development which is truly personalised.

The programme offers:

  • Nine focused 3-hour afternoon sessions over the year
  • In school support – meetings with school mentor
  • Support from within your professional network of NQTs within the Romsey Partnership
  • Termly network meetings
  • Opportunities to work with the wider NQT network
  • Regular visits to other schools  for facilitated learning walks
  • Dedicated online support platform
  • Induction mentor training
  • Quality assurance visits

Teach Meet sessions are organised but informal opportunities to get
together with other local NQTs and share ideas, best practice and personal
insights in teaching. Each session will always have two senior leaders/
experienced teachers on hand to chat to as well as a cup of tea and biscuits!

Our RQT programme is aimed at teachers in their second or third year of their teaching career or those returning after a gap. This is a vital time in the career development of teachers which helps build on their NQT year and experience.

We aim to focus on outstanding teaching and learning and sessions will focus on the following areas as well as providing an on going strong support network.  This training builds on our School Direct and NQT training.


Outstanding Teaching & Learning Mastering the concepts, ongoing behaviour management, deeper level of engagement and effective interventions. How to consistently teach at this high level.

Early Leadership & Curriculum Coordination Managing staff, the art of delegation, how to lead and run CPD and other management issues pertinent to the group. What is involved in leading an area of the curriculum?

Delving in to Data A deeper look at data, including use of target setting & tracking. How the tracking of groups impacts on teaching and learning. Half a session reserved for CPD related to group’s needs.
