Halterworth Training School Partnership

Inclusion statement

At HTSP, we are committed to creating an inclusive, supportive and equitable training environment where every trainee teacher is valued, respected and able to thrive. We believe that diversity strengthens our profession and enriches the learning experiences of the children and communities we serve.

All trainees on our programme are students of the University of Winchester and we work in close partnership with the University and our placement schools to ensure that inclusion is embedded throughout every aspect of your training. You will be supported by both a school‑based mentor and a University‑based tutor who work collaboratively with you and with each other to provide a coherent and personalised training experience. HTSP offers an additional layer of support to ensure you receive the highest‑quality guidance throughout your journey into teaching.

We welcome trainees from all backgrounds and are committed to removing barriers to participation and success. Our approach reflects the University of Winchester’s commitment to inclusion and aligns with the Department for Education’s expectations for Initial Teacher Training providers. We actively promote equality of opportunity and foster a culture where individual differences are recognised, understood and celebrated. We recognise that some trainees may require reasonable adjustments to support their learning or placement experience. These adjustments are designed to ensure that all trainees can demonstrate their full potential and meet the Teachers’ Standards.

We encourage applicants to share any support needs during the interview process so that we can begin to consider the adjustments we can offer and ensure that the right structures are in place from the outset. Our commitment is to provide a training environment where every trainee feels safe, supported and empowered to succeed.
