About Us

The Halterworth Teaching School Partnership is located at Halterworth Primary School in Romsey, Hampshire.

Halterworth is an outstanding school with a long standing and well recognised reputation for high standards, innovation and leadership in education. Our core philosophy is that every child should attend a truly great school and be taught by highly skilled and ambitious teachers. We work hard to achieve this through strong collaboration with other schools and providing high quality professional learning opportunities for all staff. Our Partnership has grown from a local network in the southern Test Valley to include additional schools both on the mainland and the Isle of Wight, with whom we have established positive collaborative working opportunities.

Prior to our designation as a National Teaching School in 2017, we were an established National Support School (NSS) and have been a Lead School for our thriving and oversubscribed Initial Teacher Training programme (School Direct) for many years.  A large number of staff from across our partnership trained through this route with us and are now accessing programmes for newly or recently qualified teachers or leaders.

Through our long standing work in School to School support (S2S) we take a keen interest in the individual teacher and/or school and personalise the programme or support provided. Our philosophy is that we always work to identify positive attributes and build on those whilst establishing a relationship of trust from which to develop areas of need in schools or for individual teachers. We always ensure that rigorous feedback is undertaken to evaluate the impact we make. Led by Jo Cottrell, a National Leader of Education, our Partnership has a national reputation from which many successful school leaders have gone on to headship.
